This week I want to share a few pertinent facts I learned from the April 2010 issue of Self Magazine, page 87.

“Flat-ab formula:  Sculpting or cardio?  Either can keep your middle little, a study in Obesity shows.  Successful weight losers who sweat for 40 minutes twice a week regained less than 1 percent of their belly fat after a year, whether they trained with weights or did cardio.  Any exercise may affect hormones that determine where the body stores fat.
Get moving!”

“Lift off:  If you are among the more than two thirds of female office workers who have frequent neck pain, dumbbells can help.  Women who strength trained their shoulders and neck three times a week for 10 weeks reduced aches by almost 80 percent, a study in the Journal of Applied Physiology notes.”

Lifting weights regularly can help ease neck pain.
