A question that I have been hearing a lot lately is “What supplements and/or vitamins should I be taking to support my workouts?” Well, that varies from person to person, and you should definitely talk to your doctor before taking any new supplement. Even over the counter vitamins and nutrition supplements can have adverse reactions when paired with certain medications.

A multivitamin is always a good start. With our crazy lifestyles these days, most people are not eating all of the fruits and vegetables their bodies need. Lately we have seen vitamin chews and liquids, as well as the traditional pill. I say, take whatever you will remember on a daily basis and look for the best quality possible to get the best absorbtion, whether you take a pill, eat a chewable or drink a liquid.  Of course, you still need to eat your fruits and vegetables! A multivitamin is just a little extra insurance that you get all of your nutrients.

I also recommend fish oil to get your Omega 3 Fatty Acids for cardiovascular health.  Another supplement that I take for digestion is Acidophilus, which is a probiotic. This is also thought to support immune health. Finally, I find that my joints are less achy when I take Glucosomine supplements.

Again, I can’t stress enough that you need to talk to your doctor before trying any of these supplements.
